The weak point of operation on any bi-fold door is the track and hardware. Any issue with the hardware or track can generally be easily fixed. The only problem with bi-fold door hardware is that it is very brand specific meaning that buying replacement parts can be somewhat difficult. The best way to solve this problem is to find out the brand of your hardware. Many times the manufacturer will place a sticker on the track or sometimes it is even embossed in the metal on the track. You may have to take down the track because it is sometimes located on the side that is attached to the door jamb. Beyond that, once you have the part in-hand, fixing the problem is very easy. If you buy a new door that doesn’t come complete with hardware (most of them do), do yourself a favor and buy a common name brand of hardware so that parts are easy to find.
In general, bi-fold doors can solve many issues when you would like a door for a room or closet and space is a concern. Keep in mind the area and what it will be used for when choosing the style of your door.
